Local Economic Development Department

a.    All business registration is done through the Environmental Officer located at the Usab Office 

a.    There is an application process, the applications can be collected from the Main Office, LED Department, or found under downloads 

a.    The Karibib Town Council Help Desk is every Wednesday from 14h00-17h00 at the Main Office, LED Department.

a.    In order to set up your gazebo in town you must visit the town council main office and pay the daily vendor fee of N$76.58 at the cashier. 

Finance Department

a.    The Municipality is responsible for providing basic services to everyone living inside its jurisdiction. These services include water, refuse removal and sewerage and other services such as roads, traffic control, public parks, cemeteries, swimming pools, etc. In order to provide these services, the Municipality charges residents rates on property. 
Property rates are paid by owners of all kinds of real property, including commercial, industrial, residential, agricultural and government property.

a.    The municipal value of your property is determined by an independent valuer, registered at the institution for professional valuers. This is prescribed by the Local Authorities Act to ensure that all properties are valued fairly and objectively. Professional valuers conduct valuations on all land including improvements.

Technical Services and Planning

  1. A zoning scheme is a legal framework that dictates how land may be used in different areas (e.g. residential, business, industrial, institutional). This further includes building regulations like height, density, and setbacks.
  1. You can request zoning information from the office,  Town Planning Office. We will issue you the Zoning Certificate.
  1. Yes, but you must submit a rezoning application prepared by a Registered Town and Regional Planner to the Town Council . It includes public participation, technical reports, and can take 6-12 months.
  1. Yes, but only if the land is deemed surplus. You must apply in writing to the Office of the Chief Executive Officer. The sale is subject to council approval and ministerial approved.
  1. Yes. Any building or extension must comply with Karibib zoning/ town planning scheme and the National Building Regulations. Plans must be approved before construction can take place.
